Frequently Asked ARGO Questions:
Can the
vehicle operate in water as well as on land?
Yes, all ARGO models are fully
amphibious and can be driven into water without any special preparation with the
exception of making sure the drain plugs are in & secure. Please see the
Operators Manual and the Safety DVD that comes with your ARGO for water use
precautions.
Up to
what depth can it go into the water?
Since the ARGO floats, there is no
limit to the depth of the water it can go in, as long as it is calm, normal
boating safety precautions are observed, and safety equipment is on board.
What is
top speed in water?
The web of the tires propels the ARGO
at about walking speed or roughly 2 to 3.5 mph depending on the model. You can
use an outboard motor of up to 9.9 hp for extensive water travel or higher
speeds.
What is
top speed on land?
8x8 – 18-22 mph, 6x6 – 20-23 mph.
Depends on load and terrain. In the terrain the ARGO is designed for, high
speed is not an issue.
What
type of engine does it have?
Frontier 6xx 480 – Briggs & Stratton
14 hp V-twin engine includes 20-50amp on demand alternator
Frontier 6x6 580 – Briggs & Stratton 18 hp V-twin engine includes 20-50amp on
demand alternator
Frontier 6x6 & 8x8 650– Briggs & Stratton 23 hp V-twin engine includes 20-50amp

Injection.
What
type of fuel does the ARGO used?
All models use regular unleaded
gasoline. Diesel models are not available.
How
much of a load can the vehicle carry?
The 8x8’s have a maximum payload
capacity of 1,000 lbs. on land (Avenger payload 1,150 lbs) or 6 adults. In
water, it carries 4 adults. The 6x6’s have a payload capacity of 700 lbs. or 2
adults and 2 children. In water, it carries 2 adults.
Can the vehicle be
transported in a pick-up bed?
Yes, provided there is a ramp over the wheel
wells. Even the 8x8 ARGO fits into a full-size (8-feet long) pick-up truck bed.
How does
the vehicle perform over the snow?
Using one of the optional track
systems, the ground pressure of the vehicle can be reduced down to an extremely
low 0.67 psi. This allows the ARGO to operate on top of the snow like a person
on snowshoes.
